The plant is characterized by two distinct types of fronds: sterile shield fronds and fertile antler fronds. The sterile shield fronds are flat, round structures that anchor the fern to its substrate, often resembling the shape of a stag's head. These fronds are covered with a layer of brown, felt-like hairs, providing a rustic and intriguing appearance.
The fertile antler fronds, on the other hand, grow outward and upward, showcasing a branching structure that resembles the antlers of a deer.
